He joined Brown Shipley the Merchant Bank as Administration Manager. Coincidentally being located immediately behind the rear entrance of the Bank of England’s building, where he often had, as a young guardsman, mounted guard duty to guard the nation’s gold.
Facilities Management
As with his military career, he did not stand still and was appointed Facilities Manager at the bank. He was head hunted into another financial company, Gerard National Inter-commodities in late 2004 to head up their Personnel and Administration Department. He left in 2007 to set up his own company.
Private Military Company
He eventually retired and was enjoying his life when a close friend and fellow officer from the military requested he assists in setting up what proved to be the most successful Private Military Company engaged in the reconstruction of Iraq following the overthrow of Sadam Hussain by the American-led coalition. Several years followed with numerous visits to Iraq – perhaps he just liked danger. Life is much more tolerable now as he resides in a picture postcard bungalow located in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. It is aptly named, Rose & Thistle. Rose, because his partner is an English Rose, Thistle, because he is a prickly old git. A far cry from his former life or lives, some say he had nine of them considering the number of times he could have died in military conflicts around the world.
